you're watching back now.

here's how to start seeing them. in the box: the beacon, assembled, flashed, and bench-tested. no charger needed, the slim model runs on any USB-C cable and power source you already have. this is the whole setup: unbox, power, pair, go.

power it on
slim model: plug it into any USB-C power and it's on. the same charger or power brick you use for your phone works, or a wall plug, your car, your laptop. there's no switch, no light shows on the outside, and that's on purpose, the device is meant to be invisible. powered means running. a small power brick runs it all day, so you can drop both in a bag.

battery model: the slide switch on top is the only control; slide to on, and the switch position is how you know it's running.

pair
open the app. it finds your beacon over bluetooth. tap to connect. everything lives on your phone; nothing goes to a server.

go
drive, walk, or drop it in your bag. detections land live on the map and in the logbook, and the beacon beeps when it spots something. on the device screen you pick how alerts reach you: the board's buzzer, vibrate (the board goes quiet and your phone taps you instead), or silent, and a slider sets the buzzer volume.

teach it your own gear
tracker detection is off by default, airtags and tiles are everywhere, and they'd bury the surveillance hits. the device tab is your control panel for what it listens for: flip trackers on there, or toggle the radios and any category (flock/ALPR, drones, body cams, glasses) on and off. anything of yours that keeps tripping the beacon: open the detection and hit ignore, and it goes quiet for good. how ignore works ›

star what matters to you
the mirror image of ignore: open any detection and tap the star to watch it. it becomes its own category in the app, watched device, and the beacon calls it out every time it's near, even in a crowd of other signals, even if it has no known signature. rename it in settings so you recognize it in the log ("landlord's camera", "that van"). the watchlist lives on the beacon itself, so it keeps working with your phone away. one heads-up: phones and many trackers randomize their address every few minutes, and the app warns you when a star probably won't stick. how watching works ›

keep it powered
slim model: it runs whenever it has USB-C power; a small power bank runs it all day.

battery model: charge over the same USB-C port, battery % shows in the app on the device screen, and charging works even with the switch off.

go deeper, optional
flip on the known ALPR layer on the map to overlay community-mapped flock/ALPR sites, so you can see fixed cameras before you reach them (opt-in, it downloads once and your location never leaves the phone). turn on desert mode to log everything nearby, and share a log to help sharpen detection for everyone. how detection works ›

updates
updates are signature refreshes as new surveillance gear appears. when new firmware lands, the app flags it and you install it over-the-air over bluetooth, or flash it with the web flasher in chrome or edge over USB. your unit shipped with the latest, so there's nothing to do today.
IF SOMETHING'S OFF
the four fixes that solve almost everything.
app can't find the beacon? pair inside the app, not in your phone's bluetooth settings, that's the classic BLE gotcha. on android, the app also needs the "nearby devices" permission (or "location" on androids older than 12, that's how android gates BLE scanning there).
is it even on? slim model: powered means running. battery model: check the switch. still unsure? pop the case open, the onboard LED gives a slow heartbeat whenever it's running. want it fully dark for a hidden deploy? switch on lights out in the app.
connected but quiet? that's normal in a quiet area, a silent beacon means nothing announced itself. want proof of life? flip on desert mode for a minute, it reports every device around you, so your own phone and earbuds land on the map straight away. turn it back off when you're done.
